We strung the lights and put up the tree…and then decided it was time to celebrate. This year has not been easy in many ways, so we wanted to create a comfy and cozy atmosphere that celebrated the holidays too. We started with fun Christmas Pajamas and good friends who make each other laugh. That’s step one of the perfect holiday season starter kit.
Step Two is finding the perfect food. When I get friends together, especially around this time of year, I want bellies full and warm. I chose Boar’s Head Hummus in the traditional variety and also in the roasted garlic (I’m Italian…it’s what we do). What I love about Boar’s Head Hummus is that it is super healthy and that’s why I paired with veggies (in this case, the perfectly dippable pepper) or pita chips.
This was perfect because we did have people with dietary restrictions and this made everyone feel included (so important always but especially during the holidays). Besides, the taste of Boar’s Head hummus had everyone making mmm noises because it was that good–even the most intense of our hummus connoisseurs (I’m not naming any names).
Step Three means turning on holiday tunes. Keep them on low because you want to be able to hear each other and laugh a ton. This is most important.
When I put this tray together, I wanted it to be inviting. It was so easy to jazz it up and make it look fancy with simple cutting boards and putting the Boar’s Head Hummus in bowls with these sweet flags. I mean, check out those holiday cocktail napkins.
When I invite people over or to celebrate the holidays, I want everyone to feel included. The food did that because we all came with different needs. No one will be forgetting this holiday spread anytime soon and the great news is we have time to do it again before the New Year!
What would be in your holiday starter kit? And what’s your favorite flavor of hummus?
