If there was a fire, what would I take? My computer because it has all my memories (photos and music) and my work (writing and client work).
So I was beyond happy to get the If there was a fire, what would I take? My com–such a snazzy title because this baby not only saves everything in the cloud, but it saves two copies (get it? mirror?). It also allows all that music and the photos and everything to be shared between devices and people. I may have whooped a little when I opened it.It’s small and it’s white and clean and classic (I guess I am a little shallow over the look of the things).
I won’t lie though, for a second I was intimidated. I mean, even the idea of “the cloud.” Okay. But WD makes it so easy with three easy steps. Literally I opened it up, plugged it in, and went to the website to set up my first device.
In less than five minutes, everything was synching–my computer, my phone, my iPad. I happen to live alone but if I didn’t, I could share my music and photos through the WD My Cloud Mirror. It saves, shares, and synchs. But in my situation, the thing I am most excited for, because I worry about everything?
It protects all my work! Whether it is my blogging, my graphics, my work for clients, it’s all saved. The biggest thing I worry about losing is probably my photographs and my writing. But now, not only is it in the WD My Cloud, it’s in the WD My Cloud Mirror which means it is saved and protected times two–besides being on my computer and phone. I am so happy.
Plus, my digital mess is simplified with WD My Cloud Storage. I like this organization. I like it quite a bit. After I connected my computer and that began to sync, I downloaded the WD My Cloud app and synced my phone in less than two minutes. You can even decide whether it syncs automatically and if it does whether you want it to sync with wifi or wifi and data. In my case, I didn’t want this to use extra data on my phone so my WD My Cloud Mirror App syncs automatically when it is connected to wifi. I tested it out and took a photo and yes, it worked. It zipped right to the iPhone folder I created to separate my files (it was that intuitive that I could create that folder too!).
I never lie. The set up took less than five minutes. My phone was synched in under three minutes. My computer took a bit longer to complete the sync because there is just so much. But the whole thing was completely intuitive (and that’s saying something considering I was intimidated). Before I knew it I was creating my own folders. I was telling WD My Cloud Mirror exactly what I wanted synched.
Now everything is safe and I can move seamlessly between all my devices. I’ve actually wanted to get a desktop for a few reasons but the inability to have access to all my files in there and on the laptop I use now has kept me from it. Now? It’s a non-issue.
I might even set up a shared folder so I can keep up with my little sister and the photos my stepmom takes. I know my little sister would love to have access to my music (ha!).
The possibilities are literally endless and I’m pumped! My apartment is still need of organized and I am working on it. But that is time consuming and labor intensive! My digital mess on the other hand? It was simplified and organized in under five minutes. You can easily be as pumped as I am and purchase your own WD My Cloud Mirror and simplify your digital mess.
